EE TYPE 3 CLASS 37

The Class 37 Diesel Locomotive, also known as the English Electric Type 3, was built at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, in a Co-Co configuration. They were built to undertake both freight and passenger work across all BR sectors. They proved to be very reliable and after later overhaul many survived in service across the BR network into the 1990s. A number of the class have been preserved.

 A lack of class 47's has given 37042 a Sunday class 1 outing. The NB Thornaby machine has worked the 1527 from Norwich (terminated due to work on Ipswich tunnel), 7th October 1984.
