EE TYPE 3 CLASS 37

The Class 37 Diesel Locomotive, also known as the English Electric Type 3, was built at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, in a Co-Co configuration. They were built to undertake both freight and passenger work across all BR sectors. They proved to be very reliable and after later overhaul many survived in service across the BR network into the 1990s. A number of the class have been preserved.

 37170 preapres to leave Inverness 22nd August 1994, with 1B26, the 1015 to Edinburgh. This locomotive is still working as 97302 for Network Rail on Test trains.
